How To Save Money On Your Auto Insurance

During these rather harsh financial times I am sure that we could all do with some tips on how to save some extra money. In recent years, due to the internet revolution, there have been some massive savings to be had when renewing our car insurance, home and contents insurance and breakdown cover. In this article I will be explaining about the ways in which you can ensure you make these savings.

Due to the fact that I have just renewed my own auto insurance that is the type of insurance I will concentrate on in this article.

I am not an insurance specialist in fact I am just a regular guy from the UK who is involved in providing fostering solutions, offering people quality external doors and I also run an SEO company.

My annual renewal notice arrived in the post around two weeks ago. The premium itself was quite fair and not too much money in reality however I still wanted to be able to pay even less than what I had been quoted - we are in a recession after all.

In an attempt to find a lower quote I went online to use a car insurance comparison website. The lowest price came out at £20 lower than what I had been quoted.

I then telephoned the company that I was already with and therefore the car insurance company that had sent me the renewal notice and told them that I had used a car insurance comparison site and that I had managed to obtain a quote that was £40 lower than what they had quoted. I asked them if they could offer me a cheaper quote than they had previously.

I went in with a lower price than what I had actually received as I knew they were never going to offer me the full reduction. To my great pleasure and perhaps surprise they offered me a reduction of thirty pounds on what they had originally quoted. Oh yes I felt so proud of myself!

I hope these tips help you in the same way that they have worked for me, please let me know how you get on. You never know those extra pounds that you save could help you to start saving towards a new car or perhaps a holiday - every penny counts, as they say - especially in a recession.

Save Money By Using An Insurance Comparison Site

Have you ever used a car insurance comparison website? How did you find it? Now I am not sure about you but I have just managed to save myself a decent amount of money after using a comparison site.

I had not previously used a comparison website as I thought it may be some kind of scam. I am not sure why I had this opinion perhaps it was because I thought that the car insurance companies were in some way sponsoring the sites; I still believe that some of them are.

Anyway I am now going to go back to writing about the way in which I managed to save money. The annual car renewal papers arrived in the post and the price was some what similar as to what I had paid last year. In that period I had not submitted a claim but I was actually fairly happy with the price that they had quoted. The company also offered excellent customer service.

Even though I was happy with the quote I still decided to put my relevant details into one of the comparison sites.

Instead of just taking up one of these quotes I decided to contact my current insurer and stated the following:

"I have been insured with your company for the last three years and would like to stay with you. I have however been quoted a cheaper price via a car insurance comparison site. Would you be able to match their price?"

To my surprise the company agreed and I felt like I had won a major victory. I now decided to treat myself to a pizza!

People have told me that there are no simple ways to make money but this definitely was one.

There are numerous other comparison type sites for example ones where they compare loans, and others where that compare home insurance.

There are even sites that offer such things as comparison prices for DVD replication companies; who knows they may even compare "web promotion" sites in the future!

I will certainly be using this type of service again in the future.

If however the above does not work for you then you could appoint a cost cutting expert to devise a cost reduction strategy.

Whichever option you take I hope you are successful at saving some cash, let's face it in this financial climate we could all do with some extra money.
