Since the dawn of the ages women have been giving birth at home with the help of miwives. The fact is they had no choice back then since they had no hospitals before. Women can now choose whether they want to give birth at home or in a hospital. This article will help you in your decision regarding home birth or hospital birth.

When you say home birth you conjure up images of you warmly bundled in your own bed and delivering your baby triumphantly at home. This will all depend on the state of your delivery whether it is complicated or risky. When it is home birthing then you need to hire a midwife. Midwives are professionals who underwent training and have passed exams just to be licensed to help women who are pregnant or in labor. This is our specialty in our midwife San Diego service.

It is best that the pregnant woman should be a hundred percent sure of choosing home birthing though. Make sure that you have everything settled months before the birth like for example be sure that you have the support of all the people who live in your house and give them their assignments in advance. Make sure that everyone in your household are well informed on how the home birthing process will go. If you do this you can be assured that everyone has their assignment in mind and knows how to do it when the delivery period comes. This is a big part of preparing for a home birth in our San Diego Certified Midwife practice.

Next, you have to ask your medical doctor if you are safe to deliver the baby at home. There are some pregnancies who need to be monitored and delivered by a medical doctor which means it is high risk. Your life is at stake here so make sure that you consult with your doctor first. If the doctor says yes then make sure you let the doctor coordinate with the midwife that you chose. You will have a safe and very uneventful delivery at home if you do this. We make sure to work closely with doctors in our homebirth midwives San Diego service.

These are the basics things about home births and midwives. It is recommended that you do coordinate well with your doctor and midwife to ensure a successful and safe delivery at home. Make sure that you prepare well since this is already half the battle. So make sure that you plan everything properly and consult the experts before deciding on a home birth.

Using a midwife is one of the options in delivering a baby. This method is usually done at your own homes. And also, this method is usually done naturally.Natural in the sense that no drugs is used during the delivery of the baby. There are lots of mothers who choose this method because there are lots of benefits that they can get from it.Some benefits they can get are that no drugs are administered during the delivery and that the delivery is done in their homes. So we  shall look at the role of a midwife in delivery.

So let us first define what a midwife really is.  A midwife is a person who assists women during delivery. They are usually not doctors.  But as a San Diego licensed midwife there is many other things that I know a midwife does.Of course, they are not as medically qualified as doctors but there are lots of things that they can do that can help pregnant mothers.

Most of their duties concentrate on assisting the delivery. But they also assist the mothers during their 9 months of pregnancy. Plus they also advice and help post delivery.  So most women who are homebirth midwife San Diego have a huge job when it comes to pregnancy and delivery.  Many women rely on them heavily for care and advice.  Although not doctors or nurses sometimes, the women trust them for medical advice.

Of course the biggest job of the midwife is during delivery. This is more true when the delivery is done in the home of the pregnant mother.Of course, midwives can help in the hospitals. But when the delivery is done at home their responsibility is much larger. As I mentioned earlier as a San Diego midwife although not usually a doctor or nurse they do have training medically. This training will help them in case an emergency happens.

So those are some of the roles of a midwife.  As you can see they have a lot of responsibility.  But most women who are midwives perform admirably. They have been helping a lot of pregnant mothers since time immemorial. And they will help more as the practice become more popular in the years to come.

Weight Loss After A Pregnancy.

Many women gain quite a bit of weight during a pregnancy, some women more than others due to their metabolism and any health problems. It is normal for a woman to gain approximately 25 to 35 pounds and loose 12 to 14 pounds during the birth. Leaving the new mother with approximately 12 to 21 pounds of extra weight after the pregnancy and birth.

Many women ask if it is possible to lose weigth they gained during the pregnancy and therefore regain the figure they had before. The answer to this question is normally yes, in exception to rare cases. In most cases the new mother is capable of regaining their previous figure in a space of 8 to 12 months.

The most important thing to do to loose the extra weight gained is not to rush into any 'miracle diets' to try to loose the weight quickly, especially if you are breast feeding. The best thing to do is concentrate on eating a complete and healthy diet and to do some daily exercise. Most new mothers make their own exercise plans that do not interfere with the new baby. Doing exercises of approximately 10 minutes a couple of times a day will help you to regain your figure.

It is very important to maintain a healthy diet as your body has been put under a lot of pressure and has used up a lot of your stored energy. Maintaining a healthy diet will not affect you if you are breastfeeding as the quality of your milk does not falter. If you are breastfeeding you will find that it is a lot easier to loose excess weight during the first couple of months after the birth.

There is a program called 'rebuild your vision'. It is an eye exercise program aimed at improving vision. While it has little to do with weight loss, taking care of your eyes is important.

Before starting any diets and if you are breastfeeding, it is recommended to speak to your doctor. Many women can create a low anemia after the birth and therefore may need more iron in their diet. Speak to your doctor and find out what is best for you in this new situation to be able to stay healthy and energetic but also to be able to loose the weight you want without damaging yourself.

Exciting options for pregnancy

One of the happiest times for a woman is during pregnancy.Quite a few women desire to have children. It is during those pregnancy months that those desires start to now come true.

During that pregnancy a lot of choices need to be made.  One of those choices is how to deliver the baby.  Sounds strange to say it is a choice but it is.Quite a few woman usually make the choice of using medicine to aid in the delivery. But there is a strong movement of women who make the choice of going natural. So what that necessitates is that no medicine will be used to help in delivery.  I have seen this from first hand experience as a San Diego midwife. It is taken from that experience that I am going to express various benefits.

Now why are some women choosing non medical delivery.  A couple of reasons.First point is that a lot of women are now realizing that medicine actually makes the delivery go slower.  When you are in pain and want to deliver as fast as possible, medicine defeats the purpose.  Many women are starting to realize that. What most women don't think is possible is that they have another way to do it. If they choose to do it that way they can seek out a midwife.  In my part of the country there are quite a few midwives in San Diego.

A midwife is able to help a woman gently deliver. They have the option of going with a waterbirth.  Waterbirth is the use of water to aid in soothing the pain and helping the delivery.

Another thing is if a woman decides, a midwife can also help in a homebirth as well. Once again you can find a homebirth midwife in San Diego if you look.

The benefits of doing it at home is a relaxed and a less stressful environment. These two benefits alone make it inviting to have it naturally.  If you are pregnant, it might be a choice you would want to make.

Why you should choose a waterbirth delivery

The birthing of a baby is one of the most cherished moments of a woman's life. The joys of bringing in a new life into the world is like none other.Even though it has a lot of pain associated with it, the majority of women will believe it is worth it.

As a San Diego midwife I would like to share with you a method that you might not be aware of.It is also known as waterbirth.

Waterbirth has been called probably of all the methods of delivery the gentlest.  It requires the use of a heatedwater bath or a pool. You will find some women will use during the labor the water part. This is done because the water that is heated is very pain relieving. It soothes and relaxes the tissues.

Other women will also delivery the baby through it.They remain in the water through the whole delivery.Even till the placenta is delivered all the way through.

The entire procedure is usually administered by someone that is referred to as a midwife.  If you are in San Diego there are plenty of midwives San Diego.  You will want to find an experienced one.

Why is there some woman who prefer this method of delivery rather than the hospital procedure? As described earlier, delivery and the labor part is extremely painful.A majority of women will use the drugs to try and stop the pain. But for a few women, the last thing they want to do is have drugs harm the new baby.  Using a waterbirth method helps with the pain.Because of the
water heated it is soothing to the tissues and helps reduce the pain.

Most women will have this procedure usually done naturally.  They will not use any drugs to cope with the pain.  Often times this actually helps the labor happen faster.Because when you use the drugs it can really slow down the labor.

It is actually a very safe alternative of delivery. For a few women who might want to have a natural birth this could be the method to go with.  I have seen many happy deliveries as a San Diego licensed midwife. All it will require of a woman is to do a little research and see for themselves
how safe it really is.
