People are seeing to it that their things will last for a long time especially with the kind of economy that we are in right now. Gone are the days when people would just replace old things with new things.Included in those items are cars. With cars you really have to maintain them to make sure they last.  Because with cars if you don't care for them they will break down.So here are some advice on maintaining your car's life.

First of all one of the biggest mistakes clients of my auto repair San Diego shop do is not change their oil regularly. What people don't realize is that oil is like the blood of your car.Without it your car can't live. And if you do not replenish its oil regularly then the running condition of the car will be affected. In the long run, this can remove some years off your car's life.  If you want your car to last longer change your oil often.

Next thing you want to do is make sure you do regular tune ups.An engine that is not functioning well would be the resut of not doing regular tune-ups. What happens when you have older cars that don't run well is failed smog tests.  In my San Diego smog check shop most of the cars that fail were cars that didn't do regular tune ups.It is a simple thing to do but will have a very big impact on the longevity of your car.

Last thing would be to take care of your brakes.  In my San Diego brake service business I try to let my clients know how important it is to care for your brakes. This is a part of your car that you do not want to fail especiallyif you are on the road.It would also be very expensive to find replacement parts for your brakes.Always maintain the level of your break fluids. And do not be too heavy-ffoted when breaking.  Don't do sudden stops but always prepare for your stops.

Do this and you will make your car last.

There are people out there who really love cars. They take very good care of their cars just like how they take care of their babies. Then there are those people who just ignore it and just consider it as something they use to get to somewhere. They just use it like a regular means of transportation for getting them to places. To ignore their cars would be a very bad decision for that second group of people. So since it is such a big investment people should treat their cars better.

As mentioned earlier people spend a lot of money to buy a car.  So since they have spent that money they should want to have their cars last as long as possible.  All my clients with my auto repair San Diego shop know this.I always remind them all the time that they need to make their cars undergo maintenance regularly. By taking good care of their cars they will have their cars last longer.By neglecting it they risk the cars and themselves in danger of an accident.

With a used car they should even take better care to make sure their cars lasts.  Especially when they don't know how the previous owner cared for the car.If it is already an old car it might even need a smog test.If they only start maintaining their cars after a smog test then there is the possibility that they would spend more on its maintenance if it fails the test.  I have seen this time and time again in the smog test San Diego shop that I run.If they just took the time to maintain their cars regularly then they could have saved a lot of money.

Finally whether it is new or old you want to take care of your brakes. The brakes are a vital part of your car.It will save your life when need be.But it can also be cause for a lot of expenses if you just neglect them.  Most customers are shocked with San Diego brake service repair prices after they have failed the test.Once again regular maintenance would cost you little money but it could save you a lot from major repairs.

We all know that getting your car fixed or maintained can be very costly. If it is still new you wouldn't have problems on spending a lot on maintenance and repairs. But as it becomes old it should be taken care of more.  So let's look at how not to pay too much when you go to an auto shop.

In my auto repair San Diego shop I hear so many stories of people getting ripped off when they take their car to an auto shop.  From paying too much or getting repairs they don't need, it happens all the time.  So what can someone do?  The best thing to do is keep your car maintained.Don't wait until something happens to your car.  Keep your car in good shape.

Having regular tune-ups is one the best ways to keep your car in a very good shape. This will prevent you from headaches to due expensive repairs.  It also keeps your engine running smoothly.Regular visits for tune-ups of your car will save you a lot of money from repairs in the long run. Not passing the smog test is one the problems caused by not properly tuning up your car.  I have seen older cars in my smog test San Diego shop that if they were taken care of they would have passed the smog test.  This can lead to many more problems.

Another thing that gets neglected when it comes to our cars are the brakes. A lot of people are surprised by a part of their cars-the brakes. It suprises them when they find out how expensive it is to repair.  Believe me, I see the look on the faces of my customers of my San Diego brakes service when they see how expensive it can be.But if they had just taken care of their they could have avoided thoses expenses.

The main point of all this is the best way to avoid getting ripped off is to take care of your car.  A properly maintained car will have less problems for shops to say is wrong with it.

One trend that is gaining steam is when someone is buying a used car, they want the maintenance records.A lot of people are now interested in seeing if a car has all of it's maintenance records. Because if you do have someone who did care for their car, you can trust that it should last longer. So when you have a car it is more important to keep good records.  Because a buyer will want to see that.

So some things you can do is every time you go in to get service for your car keep a receipt of it.  In my auto repair San Diego business I make sure to give all my clients a receipt of the work that was done.Be certain that the companies you are taking it into will do the same thing.  This could mean the difference in getting the price you want or settling for a lot less.

Another thing, when you take your car in and get a tune up, make sure you keep that record.Getting your car tuned up regularly will allow your car to last longer and run smoother. It also is very helpful in getting your car to easily pass a smog check.  In my smog test San Diego center I notice cars that weren't tuned up regularly are the ones that fail the test.

Finally you want to keep good records of when you take your car in for brake maintenance. This is a big part of caring for your vehicle and its maintenance. It one thing that a prospective buyer will want to look at.  Because the last thing a new buyer wants is a big expensive brake service they need.  So in my San Diego brakes service I make sure to give a thorough report to all my clients.

Now hopefully you can see the value in maintaining your car is you want to sell it for a lot of money.A lot of buyers now want a history of mainteance for the cars they want to buy.By making sure to keep all your maintenace records you can show that you did take care of it.

One of the most important things that is always forgotten is regular maintenance of a car.  That is the wrong thing to do considering how dependant we are to our vehicles. Because without proper maintenance you car will give you a lot of problems. Problems that will hurt you in costs. But also problems that will bother you if your car is unusable.

So let's talk about how we should take care of our cars to make it last and keep it problem-free. This is from my experience running a auto repair San Diego  company. You like to make yor car last longer and running smoothly.

The first priority we want to look at is in keeping your car running smoothly. This is simple but it will keep your car healthy when done. You will have a long-lasting car.  If you don't do it you will have problems like a failed smog check.  I have seen it time and time again in my smog test San Diego shop.

One simple way of maintenance is to change the oil of your car.Undergoing tune ups is another must-do.Doing these two steps will make your engine run smoothly.

Maintaining the brakes should be your second priority.  This is important not just for costs but also for safety.  I have seen a lot of accidents from failed brakes doing business with my San Diego brake shop.Another thing you should keep in mind is checking and keeping the brake fluids filled.Proper usage of the brakes should also be put to mind. Don't wait to long to brake, apply brakes slowly. Observe these steps and you'll be surprised how long it can last.

Abiding by the suggested steps will be beneficial for you and your car.You will make your car last longer and run smoothly.
