Saving money through your car

Today a lot of Americans are searching for ways to spend less of their money.  With the way the economy is you can't blame them. They find ways to get rid of extra expenses.Possibly they might start to not go out as much. They aren't going out and buying things of no use.  But I would like to suggest a way you might not have thought about. That way you can find with your car.

When most people think of their cars and saving money it usually involves saving gas.  They think of ways they can spend less on gas.But what I would like to offer is the fact that if you keep your car properly maintained you can save a lot more.  I know this for a fact running my San Diego auto repair company.

With a lot of cars people in general don't think of doing maintenance. Unfortunately the only time they do think about it, is when it is too late. They wait for the inevitable part breaking down or something going wrong. But from what I have witnessed doing this and waiting ends up making the auto repair expenses more costly.

As an example let look at your brakes. If you do proper maintenance with your brakes you are able to avoid expensive repairs. If you do not do it, you will have some exspensive disc brakes that will need a repair.Or you might find the need to have the brake shoes replaced.By making sure that you use your brakes the right way and mainaining them you will save a lot of money.  So take it in to a brake shop like my San Diego brakes shop and you can find out if you need to do anything.Things like the brake fluid and checking it to make sure it has enough.

Or most people don't bother getting their car tuned up.  They let the engine go.They aren't doing an oil change as much as they are supposed to. This ends up making your cars engine to start running badly. So poorly that it isn't going to pass a smog check.  From what I have seen running a San Diego smog check shop, if you fail a smog test, this can lead to expensive repairs just to get it to pass.

But if you are able to maintain it properly you will have a car running in good shape.  The engine will run smoother and properly.Wait longer then you should and you will end up spending a lot more money then expected.

I hope this shows you that maintaining your car is a great way to save money. Spend less now and you will get to spend less in the future.

How to improve the life of your car

It is a new day and time.  The economy has changed.Because of it, a lot of Americans just are unable to make as many purchases as before.  In terms of the car industry you can see it.  With automakers constantly losing money, you know people aren't buying big items as much anymore.

With that in mind most Americans are going to be forced to keep their car longer. When you do keep your car much longer it will need more maintenance. The better you maintain your car is the longer life you will give it.  So I would like to offer a couple of tips from my experience owning a San Diego auto repair company.

One of the problems that gets overlooked alot is not keeping your car in good clean running order. Why does this matter?Because you can't keep your care running efficiently this could lead to the failure of the smog test.If you can't pass the smog test, this can be the start of some expensiver repairs.  I have seen this time and time again from doing San Diego smog check.

All you really need to do is to be sure that you change the oil on a regular schedule.Als be positive that it is tuned up for all the regular tune ups.

Second issue not handled all the time is taking care of your brakes. You don't really focus your attention on them. But everybody is positive that it is critical for safety. But if you are unable to maintain it, this can lead to an expensive repair.  I should know having to charge my clients to replace their brakes at my San Diego brake shop.

Be sure that when you are braking that you do not be too rough on them. Be ready for all the stops and then you will be able to brake slowly. Also take care in making sure the brake fluids are at reasonable levels. This can add up to a lot of money saved in repairs.

Do these couple of things and you will save a lot of money in repairs. When you are forced to own your cars longer, you will be pleased that you did do it.

Well the time of people having a lot of wealth and extravagance is now gone. For a lot of Americans excessive items like a new car is a thing of the past. Now in these times when a family is in need of a new car they have to look into a used car.  This is evident in all of the financial problems the big 3 carmakers are having.  There sales are down.

But families will still be needing a form of transportation. But when families are on a tight budget they have to go with a cheaper choice. That alternative choice is a used car.

As a San Diego auto repair shop owner I am asked to inspect some of these used cars.  Because when you are buying a used car you don't want a lemon. So by making sure there is proper inspectino performed, you can avoid most expensive repairs.

So when you are looking over these cars remember these couple of items to inspect.First thing you have to check is the brakes.  We do San Diego brake in our shop.  So I know first hand that brake repairs can become expensive.  If you purchase a car that the brakes weren't maintained it could become expensive.Last thing you want to happen is the need to get the entire braking system replaced. So be sure you have good brakes.

Second, you want to ensure that the car is running clean.Said another way, will it be able to pass a smog check.  In my business I do San Diego smog check. The last thing I am sure you want to happen is to buy a car that is in need of expensive repairs.Especially if the repairs are going to involve any emmission problems.

If you buy a car that is unable to pass a smog check, that won't be good.It is a sign of a previous owner not taking care of it.What probably happened is they didn't do any tuneups or oil changes. These could be the start of a lot more problems in the future.

If you make sure to inspect these few items you can save yourself some money. By not doing proper checking you can fall into some huge repair bills.  When you are trying to save money I am sure you don't want that.

How to save money maintaining your vehicle

In this economy to save money we need to use every possible way.  It doesn't take much to see that many Americans are suffering in this economy. But instead of moaning about a lot of things, we can search out other ways to save money.

So I would like to offer some perspective from a San Diego auto repair owner. Now you may be thinking that I would be biased but listen to me first. After reading this it should be clearer to you that you can save money and that it makes sense.

One of the tips on saving money is by making sure we are able to keep our cars for longer periods of time. In the height of this boom economy when everybody was benefiting people would just trade their cars all over the place. They just went and traded their cars went it was older. So the fact of the matter is a lot of people never thought of maintaining their car.

Well in the shape the economy is in, that is not a luxury for most people now. Most everyone will not be able to afford going out and buying a new car in these days.People now must keep the old ones longer. What it means is you will have to make an effort to maintain their cars.

One of the major items of maintenance is being certain you are able to pass a smog check.  Once your car gets older it is required by law.  If you don't pass a smog test, it can turn into expensive repairs.  I know this first hand running my smog test San Diego shop.

There are some things you are able to do to help make certain you pass the test. You must keep you car tuned up always. You can make certain you change the oil filter and oil.  You can make sure the muffler is in good working order.

This is what causes you to lose money. If you are unable to pass the smog check you might be in for some expensive repairs.  So by making sure you follow these maintenance procedures so you can save money.  By taking the time to maintain it now you won't have to spend big on repairs later.

Don't forget that you have to maintain your brakes as well.  With my experience with our San Diego brake shop this is important as well. By ensuring that the brakes pads you have aren't wworn down you can make your disc brakes last longer. Not keeping it maintained can cause very expensive repairs.  Follow this and you will save money.

Used Cars and Smog Tests

In the economy we live in, most families are going to choose to buy a used car rather than a new car.

With that being the case, there will be a lot of issues concerning finances that go into place when making a used car purchase.

When I talk about the financial considerations, I am not just referring to the purchase price.

When you are a family looking to save money the last thing you want to do is buy a used car with extra expenses you weren't prepared for.Especially if your budget did not have those extra expenses in it.

So one of the major things to be aware of is having to do a smog test.  The last thing you want to have to do is make expensive repairs for a failed smog test.  I have seen too many used cars in my San Diego auto repair business have this happen.

So when you are making the purchase of that used car, some things to consider are here.

In a law that was passed in 2005, 1976 cars or older don't have to get a smog test.  But if it is newer than that your vehicle will be tested based on the state emission law.You can learn about your state if you call the Bureau
of Automotive repair at (800) 952-5210.

If you live in California and are buying a used car you may need a San Diego smog check. If the purchase or registration is in California for the very first time, you are going to need a smog test.

Other than that, if the vehicle is going into it's 5th or 7th year, a smog check will need to be done biennially.

If you made the car purchase in another state but live in California, you will have to find out if your vehicle can pass a smog test.In general California is a lot more strict.

With that being the case, keep that on your mind when making a purchase of a new vehicle.

Costs for a smog test San Diego generally run between $30 to $80.But as stated above, that is not the biggest expense. The major costs will be if you need expensive repairs.

So when purchasing the used car, make sure you find out if the vehicle has recently passed a smog test.

You don't want to get any unexpected expenses cropping up all over when the idea was to save money when you bought that used car.

Follow these tips when looking into that used car and you will save yourself a lot of money.
